 The traditional dyeing and weaving industry has been greatly affected by the recent decline in the popularity of kimonos, and is experiencing a steady decline in both sales and production. Furthermore, it faces the serious problem of a shortage of successors.
 At ITOHEN, we developed this product to discover new value in traditional dyed and woven fabrics.

 It is very important to hear directly from the weavers.
 Traditional dyed and woven textiles are facing serious challenges due to declining interest in kimonos and a lack of successors, but everyone is working hard to find ways to preserve and pass on these valuable traditions for future generations.
 We create our products hoping to contribute, even in a small way, to that sentiment.
 The accessories are handcrafted with love by mothers living in Kitakyushu City, and each item is unique.

 [About authentic Amami Oshima Tsumugi silk fabric]
 Oshima Tsumugi, a traditional textile representing Kagoshima Prefecture, boasts a long history and tradition. The Oshima Tsumugi weaving process involves over 30 steps, taking nearly six months from design to completion. Each step is extremely complex and requires highly skilled techniques. Throughout its long history, product and technological development has progressed, resulting in numerous praised characteristics such as intricate ikat patterns, lightness, warmth, suppleness, and resistance to wrinkling. Currently, Oshima Tsumugi offers a rich variety of colors, patterns, and textures, ranging from traditional mud-dyed Oshima and indigo-dyed Oshima to new colored and white Oshima. As a result, its range of wear has expanded, and it can now be worn not only as casual fashionable wear for outings, but also for various occasions such as tea ceremonies, coming-of-age ceremonies, and weddings. Furthermore, the production of Oshima Tsumugi products as Western clothing, interior decor, and accessories is also progressing.
